Ok. Sea Ram is the rolling airframe missile mounted under the CIWS gun

The CIWS gun fires depleted uranium rounds down range at high rate of fire. The radar (inside the white dome) merges the radar tracks of the inbound threat and the outbound uranium bullets. The inbound threat must survive hail of bullets put out. Range is limited.

The sea ram missile has more range than the depleted uranium bullets. Similar aiming except missile can maneuver and has seeker in nose.

Defense in depth at short range.

We have other stuff like patriot, thaad, sm3, sm6, .some opetate inside the atmosphere some above it.
